FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUESTS

1. FOIA Requests have to be in writing. Email requests are not accepted.
2. FOIA Requests go to the Public Information Officer immediately upon receipt.
3. The Public Information Officer determines who has the requested information and if the the request is to be processes or denied.
4. The PIO contacts the supervisor of the office where the requested records are maintained, and they determine the time it will take to fulfill the request.
5. The PIO responds to the request with an estimate of when the records will be available and if there are any associated charges, or if the County will need an extension of five days to fill the request, or that the request is to be denied for one of the exempted resons.
6. The PIO delivers or arranges pick-up of the requested records.
