RAES Adult Ed Programs are designed for the non-traditional student to successfully achieve their desired Secondary education, as well as assisting English Language Learners through English as a Foreign Language classes how to speak, read, and write English.
Through Individual Education Plans, our qualified staff are trained to assist students into the next level through connecting with local agencies and services, creating a transition plan for college, training or career readiness, and bridging the gap between student and services within the workforce area.
During a student’s time with us, they will learn basic skills for English Language Arts, Math, College and Career Readiness and workplace skills as well as become prepared to take the High School Equivalency Exam, gain their High School Diploma, or achieve the skills necessary to obtain citizenship.
For High School Diploma students 12-21 years of age. This is offered in a variety of ways. Our daytime program offers students age 12-21 the ability to work in a self-paced, non-traditional atmosphere, allowing them to receive high school credits for whatever their needs.
Our evening class offers Edgenuity for Credit Recovery for current local high school students to be able to make up a class or two.
We also offer the option of 18 to 21 year olds seeking their high school diploma to participate in the night classes if the daytime program doesn’t fit your needs.
A program designed to offer both online and offline learning options for individuals 17 and older seeking their GED or High School Equivalency Certificate. This program is offered for night school students. Study areas include Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Basic Math, Mathematics, Basic Writing, and Consumer Education.
ABE-Adult Basic Education:
A Pre-Literacy course is an instructional based format for basic beginning level students with a 0-4th grade reading level which helps increase the very basics of reading, writing, speaking, and math skills to help move into the next level of ABE. With an approved curriculum and courses through ICCB, this program assists clients from a grade 4 through eighth grade competency level as determined by standardized assessment. These students have instructional learning along with supportive computer-based programs to enhance their basic learning skills while developing to an Adult Secondary Education.
ASE-Adult Secondary Education:
ASE approved classes aid a student who has leveled up to a 9th-12th grade competency level which will result in the attainment of a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and prepare them for the workforce, training, and/or post-secondary education through College and Career Readiness Standards. With an approved curriculum and courses through ICCB, this program assists clients from a 9th through 12th grade competency level as determined by standardized assessment. These students have modeled learning along with supportive computer-based programs to enhance their ASE learning skills while developing to secure employment opportunities or enroll in postsecondary education courses or certificates.
English as a Foreign Language is a class developed to educate non-English speaking students how to speak, read, and write English. EFL classes, with an approved curriculum, offer several levels of instruction including:
•Beginning ESL prepares students with basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, understanding and competency skills for English learners.
•At a basic skills level for Intermediate competency levels, this course is designed to help a student level gain with transition into postsecondary education, job skills, training, and life skills as goals.
•Advanced level students are transitioned into this course with instruction and focus on advanced skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, employability, job training programs, post-secondary education, and citizenship.
IET- Integrated Education Training:
With collaboration and partnerships through WIOA and Carl Sandburg College, as well as other community partners for training and education, clients are prepared to enter an IET program or a CTE Bridge program through Carl Sandburg College or an approved independent training program. A transition coordinator or qualified staff member from the Adult Ed program works with clients as they get closer to a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate to begin the process of bridging.
Clients begin their Bridge program preparation during the school year when they have reached a 6th grade competency level, are English language proficiency and meet specific criteria for the provider of the program the client is entering. Through a single course, or a series of courses, clients are prepared to enter-credit bearing course and programs that include entry level occupational skills, within a career cluster. These programs and partnerships are offered through iPathways, or other approved agencies and programs. With collaboration and regular meetings with WIOA and Carl Sandburg, as well as other community partners for training and education, clients will be prepared to enter a IET program or a CTE Bridge programs through Carl Sandburg College or an approved independent training program.
